    I think aside from the fantasy appeal of mermaids, cartoonists like drawing mermaids for how flow-y they look. women's curves+long fish tails = fun with wispy lines XD

    Hmmmm... I thought it was the appeal of Disney. But yeah, wispy lines are pretty fun :P
